GRANOR® Fluorogold® Slide Bearings

GRANOR® Fluorogold® Slide Bearings are simple in concept, easy to fabricate, and easily adaptable for installation in accordance with customer’s requirements.

Materials

GRAFLON® Grade 2 PTFE – being a glass filled PTFE x 3mm thick is bonded to various substrates but mostly to Grade 316 StainlessSteel. Where a rotational capacity is required, the lower element will consist of a GRAFAB® elastomeric pad faced with GRAFLON®.

GRANOR® Fluorogold Slide Bearings Series “FSB” consist of 3mm thick glass filled PTFE laminated to a steel plate, most commonly to a 6 mm stainless steel plate. Two of these plates are used in a bearing assembly with the two glass filled PTFE surfaces sliding against each other. In all cases, the larger of the two PTFE surfaces must be on the top. The dimensional difference between the upper PTFE layer, and the lower PTFE layer, represents the anticipated slide movement. The recommended maximum allowable design load for Granor® Fluorogold® Slide Bearings is 10 MPa.

This type of bearings has frictional values ranging from approximately 6% at a compressive load of 5MPa. to a 4% coefficient of friction at 10MPa. There are many different configurations available in this range of Slide Bearings. Typically, a welding lip is provided for tack welding to steel structures and / or this lip permits the use of countersunk stainless steel screws for direct attachment to the structure, or to an intermediate cast in plate.

The basic type of Fluorogold® bearing is not designed to handle any non - uniform load conditions. If a non - uniform load condition is expected, (ie; induced rotation) then the lower element should consist of GRAFLON® Gr. 2 PTFE factory bonded to a GRAFAB® elastomeric bearing pad. This combination provides for rotation.
