Ausflex Series – "ACB Strip Seal" Deck Expansion Joint System
Applications
The Granor® Ausflex Series “ACB” Stripseal Expansion Joint system is a derivative of the “AC-AR” system designed specifically for non cast-in applications. Typically the “ACB” joint has been detailed for use with flat plank beam simply supported bridge structures predominantly used in Queensland, either with or without an asphalt overlay. The Granor® design utilizes Stainless steel M16 or M12–A4-70 threaded rod together with stainless steel ferrules complies with the detail specifically illustrated in Main Roads Department,Queensland specification MRS11.81 (TS81)
The “ACB” joints utilize the same central elastomeric sealing glands as used in the “AC-AR” system.
The “ACB” joint can also be used as rehabilitation / replacement joints in conjunction with core drilled ‘chemset’ anchorages, M16’s or M12’s at 200mm or 150 mm centres.
Where an asphalt overlay is utilized, then it is specifically recommended by Granor® that the “ACB” joint concept be used in conjunction with protective upstand headers (such as Granor SSI SILSPEC 900 Polymer Nosing System) each side of the joints’ aluminium retainers.
Judicious spacing of the M12 or M16 fixings can achieve compliance with the clamping forces as detailed in AS-5100.4.
